Our Visitor Center

Located on the first floor of the Washington County administration building, the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve Discovery Center welcomes visitors from near and far to learn about this corner of the world. The visitor center is a cooperation between Washington County HCP and the Greater Zion Convention & Tourism Office.

Ambassador animals (including tortoises, kingsnakes, tarantulas, and more), detailed maps, and interpretive signs are on display to inform and educate on everything from geology to local history. Travel planning materials — such as maps, brochures, restaurant guides, and local event schedules — are available for free, with a small selection of merchandise available for sale.

Stop in at 111 E. Tabernacle St. in St. George to see the visitor center for yourself! We’re open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., with staff members available to answer questions about desert wildlife, local trails, and how to make the most out of your time in Greater Zion. See the calendar below to find out about upcoming events and public meetings held in the visitor center. For questions or feedback to improve visitor experience, please call (435) 301-7430.
