Kit Fox
(Vulpes macrotis)

Although the population trend of this furbearer is unknown, poison campaigns have decimated many populations. Kits prefer open, level, sandy ground at desert elevations. Four to 7 young are born underground from February to April after a 49-56 day gestation period. Their home range exists up to 2 miles from the den. The pups leave the den after one month and will begin hunting with the adults after three or four months. Most will leave the den in October.
