Rubber Rabbitbrush (ericameria nauseosa)

This yellow flowering plant grows in patches.  It is not a major food source for animals, but it will be eaten when other plants are dormant.  It also provides good cover for small animals such as rabbits, lizards, birds and mice.  Native Americans used rabbitbrush extensively to make teas, dyes and chewing gum.
