Claret-cup Cactus

This plant is a member of the hedgehog species in the cactus family.  It produces a showy, red-orange blossom each spring that contains abundant nectar.  Hummingbirds and many flying insects are very fond of it.  It can be found on cliffs and in rocky areas of Confluence Park.
